The Schoolhouse in Annaghmore was built in the 1860s to educate local children. Nowadays its cosy vestibule leads through to a light filled sitting room where an open fire adds a welcoming glow to the double height living room. The building retains many original decorative features including ornamental wooden bargeboards and lattice windows surmounted by wooden hood mouldings. Nearby beaches are at Strandhill (20 mins). Sligo town’s bustling streets are peppered with small boutiques, cafes and bars, as well as a myriad of craft shops offering many handmade crafts including jewellery, pottery and knitwear.

We stayed in Annaghmore School House, Sligo for our honeymoon and had a wonderful few days. We loved our little spot tucked away surrounded mature trees. We found it romantic, charming and cosy in every way. We look forward to checking out many more locations and will bring our little doggie on holidays too!

The school house is a fantastic property to stay in. It’s beautifully restored and has all modern conveniences. Everything is very self explanatory and a lot of thought has gone into small details to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Great welcome from Sarah. The house is quite beautiful. Our black Labrador Saga really appreciated the walks each morning up to the walled garden. The weather was fantastic which always helps! The location is close to Sligo and south Donegal, all of which were explored on our various trips in the car. It was a ‘special’ birthday for my wife and she said it was the best holiday ever. I would really recommend a stay at the Schoolhouse in Annaghmore.

A very restful week in this beautifully restored and maintained old schoolhouse, set in the beautiful Sligo countryside near Collooney. It was a superb centre to explore the Yeats country, the Sligo and north Mayo coasts, the many neolithic monuments in the area, and also to learn much about early and recent Irish history.
