Sagan is a Great Dane German Shepherd CrossIt's Sagan here and I wanted to tell you all about my new life. The early days were a bit rough as I had a very sensitive stomach and a few skin problems as well. The vet ran some tests and discovered that I had some allergies but all is well now and I'm on a very strict diet. I don't mind though because I still get loads of food and treats! I also have to take some medicine every day. I weigh 47kg now and I have a few more kg to put on according to the vet. I have also gotten taller too. I'm 32.5 inches tall now!

Wow Sagan, happy birthday but its seems your mom has a birthday for your everyday. You are very much loved it appears... but it seems you give it back tenfold!

Hi, well done to you. Sagan (Brett) as we knew him looks great. We had a walk with him one day on one of our visits to the shelter. He's a wonderful dog but boy was he strong.  We have a number of rescues from Carrick. Don't  Steve & Helen do wonderful work. We wish you many happy days with Sagan and his friends.

Hi, just wanted to comment on how well Sagan looks... and how he looks so at home with you and George... we had adopted Sagan in May but we already have a GSD and a Rottie and life was just that little bit too much for me to handle with 3 big dogs and Sagan needed all the attention and love he could get to take him to the magnificent dog he is/will be over time.  WELL DONE and CONGRATS and I'm sure ye will all make each other very very happy.  P.S. We had named him Gerry!!

The videos are Sagan resting upside down on his chair and playing tug-of-war with his friend Max!

The vet says we can't do agility training because one of my hips isn't strong enough but I can do loads of tricks now and will even give you a hug if you ask. I usually listen very well to my mom but sometimes dogs and new smells are very distracting. Usually a bright tennis ball is enough to hold my attention.

I have loads of new friends. George is probably my best friend but Max, a beagle, is a close second. Max likes to play chasing but he can fit through my legs and he likes to hide in places I can't fit. You can see us playing in the video. I forget that not all dogs like me and don't realize that I might scare them and their owners sometimes, but I'm really just trying to be friendly. I wouldn't hurt anyone.

I go to college sometimes with my mom but I'm also enrolled in doggie daycare when my mom works. I have an armchair and that's my favourite place to sleep. Sometimes I sleep in strange positions. I'm so placid that my cousin Rebecca, who is nearly two, gets into bed with me and plays chasing with me. She thinks I am a horse!

My mom says she doesn't know what she would do without me and although it's been a tough year she says I am worth it! I even have a grand-dad who takes me for a long walk once a week in the forest. I have a long and happy life ahead of me and we are moving to Athlone soon. I am excited about that because my new house has a big garden!
