Meet Poppy, she's our Black Labrador cross who was born in 2008. She came into our lives quite by chance when our daughter came home from a friend's house one day with a sob story about a puppy that was going to be drowned in a sack. I didn't believe a word of it and insisted that "two dogs is enough" but agreed to go and look at the puppy anyway and guess what happened? We brought her home with us. She looked a bit more like a Labrador when she was tiny but there is also some Lurcher in there somewhere I think.

Poppy runs so fast although you wouldn't think it - most of the photographs are of her lying down! She used to be afraid of water. When she was a puppy she fell in our pond and it frightened her so much that she would step over a puddle. Now she would swim all day in our local river retrieving sticks. She loves to play with our other two dogs Candy and Meg, but especially Candy. They are like two puppies again when they play together. Poppy is the sweetest, gentlest dog and I'm so glad we rescued her!
