FrecklesFreckles came to live with us via Carrick Dog Shelter in Co. Monaghan. He is an extraordinary dog who survived the most appalling handling from what we call the human race. I would suggest though that the person who mishandled Freckles shouldn't be called human. He took weeks to recover from his ordeal and spent a lot of time in intensive care at the shelter, with daily followed by weekly visits from the County Vet plus lots of love and attention from all the brilliant staff at the shelter. It was a long road to recovery but so worthwhile!

Carmel... Freckles' difficult days are over thankfully, it goes beyond any understanding how some useless human can do this... I hope Freckles is well and you and he enjoy a long freindship. From all us dog lovers... thank you.

Hi, we remember Freckles from our visits to Carrick Dog Shelter. He really was in some state when Helen/Steve got him but as usual they worked their magic on him + lots of hard work and its wonderful to see he has a lovely new home with you. Well done for giving him a second chance. Enjoy every moment, they go so fast.

There are some people out there who should not be let near dogs. They should be shown the same treatment to see if they like it! They are our little dogs with real feeling. It's great to hear that he is doing so well now, best wishes to you and Freckles xx

Hi Freckles. Heard so much about you. You are a very lucky boy to have such a good caretaker as Carmel. It would be im-paws-able to meet anyone more kind and gentle and if I were homeless I'd be chewing on her door too - am very proud to call her a friend - and any friend of hers is a friend of mine too. See you soon. x

Freckles' terrible beginning in life is the very reason I'm sometimes embarrassed to be a part of the human race. Thank God most of us realise the very special bond to be shared with our animal friends and thankfully you and the gorgeous Freckles found each other. Enjoy and love this wonderful, spirited boy. It lifts my heart to know that one more dog has found the happy, safe life that is his birth right.

They say dogs live in the present and not the past, I hope this is true for Freckles! What an amazing change! Thank God for wonderful people like yourself who will give him exactly what every dog deserves so keep up the good work. He looks absolutely fabulous and I'm sure gives you as much joy as you give him.

The first time we met Freckles (his name was Bones then) took our breath away, especially when he moved his little tail when I stroked him under his chin. Even though he couldn't stand up or move his head there was still a spark in his eyes which endeared everyone around him. He survived his ordeal and he is now a very curious dog who wants everyone he meets to be his play friend - dog or person.

Freckles hates cars, hoovers and hairdryers. He loves his food, incoming post from the post man, long walks and swims, resting on your feet and being hand fed. He is not that pushed on showers or having his hair brushed, but vanity is getting to him and he is beginning to adore the attention.

He loves our kitten Millie, but Millie is not that pushed on having a daily wash by Freckles' rather large and wet tongue, or having her toys munched and eaten by what to her seems like an enormously large and over friendly dog! Lately they have been getting up to some mischievous tricks together, which means double trouble but wonderful antics for us to watch.
