Des is a Collie X and Penny and Bonnie are CavaliersPrior to the 21st of March 2010 we were dogless but by August we had three great doggies to share our lives with! We rescued all of them, Des from Dogs in Distress, Penny from Irish Cavalier Rescue and Bonnie from a puppy farm. Des the Collie X was first and he came to us in March. When we collected him from Ashtown Pound he was very nervous! It took three of us to lift him into the jeep, then it took 30 minutes to coax him out - but he has come on leaps and bounds. Thanks to Dogs in Distress Des found his forever home with us!

I have never met these beauties but have seen many photos. They are a credit to Lucille and Elaine. Well done.

Hi you two. Well done for giving not one but three wonderful dogs a forever home. It's especially good to see you've given an older dog a loving home as they often get overlooked and as we know they are so loving and so happy in their later years. We adopted George our blind greyhound 2 years ago. He was 10 years old and he is now 12 and loves his life of gentle walks and comfortable  beds, preferably a couch. Enjoy every moment with your three, the time flies but it's worth every moment.

Your new additions are adorable :) We adopted Brett (Biggie) from Dogs in Distress too. Hoping to get him a little friend when we move somewhere with a bigger garden!

Penny the Cavalier King Charles was next and she came to us in April. This little bundle of joy makes me laugh every day with her antics. She doesn't know she is a dog, she is human! She is tiny, probably the smallest Cavalier I've ever seen, but is full of attitude. The poor thing had her tonsils out recently but you'd never know it. She is running around like a mad yoke! We got Penny from Irish Cavalier Rescue.

And then Bonnie (also a Cavalier King Charles) came into our lives in June. She was advertised as being for sale for €50 on a website and when I rang the seller, I was told very honestly that she is too old to breed from so it was time to make room for a new breeding bitch! I was also told she was 6, but she is more likely to be between 8 and 10! She can be a bit grumpy with Penny, but it is manageable. She probably only remembers small dogs like that from when she was giving birth, so who can blame her!!

UPDATE FROM DES & BONNIE'S OWNER: Unfortunately on 24th Feb 2011 we had to give Bonnie her wings. It was a very hard thing to do but the right thing for her as her liver had failed. She went peacefully in our arms being told she was loved and that we would miss her! The house since she has gone is very quiet and we miss her and her presence so much. She will always be in our hearts and I know she will be waiting at Rainbow Bridge for us all.

Des (Collie) had to be pts in March 2011 due to problems that couldn't be fixed :( We were heartbroken and still are. Nothing will ever replace Des, he was our first and we loved him a lot. We know he is at the bridge running free and chasing balls with Bonnie at his heels :)
